It's Otoha. This is a message for Red team, but I don't really care if other teams listen in. It's not a secret.

Lightning still hasn't shown back up after the mission, but her stuff's still here. ... If anyone on Red team needs anything... I mean, we're all pretty independent, but I can be the... point person if someone needs something.

Not hard to find me, I'm usually in the training gym or greenhouse. Room's upper 1:A.

( Arms cross over his chest. He regards the man for another few moments of silence, quietly making notes but speaking nothing of them. ) A wild bunch, then. ( A break. ) Tell me, I find it hard to believe dividing teams into similar traits and skills an honest useful strategy. What am I missing; what must I know?

[His stance is defensive, but not overly so. Less 'waiting for an attack' and more 'bad with people'.]

Well, we do mix things up, but red team has a number of different kinds of fighters. Some have magic, some are physical only. And we still have different skills besides just doing damage.

As for dividing... let me give you an example. Mission before last was in a demon-infested world where we were trying to stem the tide of demons. We'd been given four major tasks - evacuate the locals, solve some kind of puzzle, set up a perimeter, and direct attacking.

Orange has the eggheads, generally. So they did the puzzles. Purple and Red mixed together a little but it was mostly red leading the charge into the demon portals because we tend to be too stubborn to die and could do the fastest in, break the portal, get out. Blue team is more defensive so they'd be too slow and orange team tends to be low on offensive power.

We're not lacking other skills - we just tend to have things we're better at. And people do mix it up a lot... though due to personality I think a lot of red tend to stay with red.

[He rocks back on his heels for a moment, seemingly tired. He really doesn't talk this much... ever.]

( And in turn, there isn't too much for anyone to pick up from Atem unless they had the sense to do so. Though for someone so thoroughly unimpressive in height he did carry himself with some sense of importance by nature alone. Atem had little desire to assert such a thing presently. He is far more interested in listening, now getting a more full picture of the way teams work and those working within them.

Atem allows a bit of time before replying, trying to make it simple as possible with a nod. ) I thank you for the information, this does paint a better picture for me of how things work here.

( There is a pause. ) You mention there are many different types of fighting, I'm clearly no stranger to it but my skills in weapons and hand-to-hand could use sharpening. If you know anyone willing, I'll gladly learn of them.

I'm all right in hand to hand combat. I've trained with blades since I was young. There's a training group that meets here in the mornings unless it's right before a mission. There's people who are skilled in all sorts of fighting styles. Tobias Rieper is the one in charge of it. He's listed as '47' on the roster for some reason.

[He shrugs. He's never cared to ask why, because it doesn't matter.]

… A family of criminals, actually. I was born and raised in my local yakuza group - organized crime. Some… awful shit. I can’t feel pain, so they realized I wouldn’t slow down in a fight when I got hurt. My job was to kill who they wanted me to kill. Not quietly, the idea was usually to ‘send a message’.

Got out of it recently. Now I’m the guardian of my city. In the - the will of the city picked me to look out for everyone, human and nonhuman alike.

( Ah, yes. He's run into them before weird as that is. Card games are serious shit, am I right? Though when the man shares that he got out, a smile warmed Atem's lips. ) Not all warriors are born as such. I'm thankful you got out. It's difficult to, I imagine.

( And he could see how someone like this would be very beneficial for an organization like that. ) I do not have a lot of experience with a straight blade, myself. More accustomed to a curved one; axes, scythes, and the like. Perhaps you'll teach me sometime?

And... sure, when you feel comfortable. It's... mm. Corny as it sounds... it'll be good to see those skills used to protect people, not kill them.

( A nod. He gives space for a moment or two of silence. Could only imagine. Remembered Jounnochi, and his attempts to remove himself from a street gang. And that was only a street gang. Teenagers acting tough. Something as big and organized as Yakuza could only be so much more worse.

Atem inhales, and exhales a small laugh; a hand waving it off. ) Please, just wait until you hear one of my friendship speeches. You're in good company for corny. ( Listen, he's aware of SOME things he'll thank you. Though he does somehow manage to always make them sound more like orders than let's be friends but details. ) It is not so different from my duties back home.

( Between you and him, he's not spectacular at it either unless he's leading the charge of said friendship or teamwork but you know. Do as he says not as he does and all that. He's come a long way, at least. Still, the answer marks an amused turn upward in Atem's lips. )

Pharaoh ( is his answer. )

[He's been on this train long enough that whatever bullshit makes sense. There's a blue guy on the train, there's a supersoldier, there's a thousand and one different weird things.]

['Pharaoh' is comparatively normal. It's not like he bows to anyone anyway.]
