[ Hello, ICP video. There's a Tidus sitting on the computer chair in the standard coach when the image pops up, waving up a hand to the screen. ]

Hey, 'sup everyone! I got some stuff from the last mission with Inigo and Dennis that we wanna share with the rest of the train. Some computer tablets, VR glasses, goggles - hey Seto! You can do somethin' with those, right? - and some clothes and whatever else we could get our hands on.

Nothin' like books or music or food. Sorry! But if you like lamps or fans, we got those. [ Ahahaha. ] Oh yeah, and some first aid kits too, if any of the teams want 'em for supplies. And speaking of, Jane told me about these bacta bandages thingies they use where she's from. Like some kind of healing...gel you can sit over wounds? Uh, I got a book on it for an easier time understanding the stuff.

Annnyway, [ moving alooong, ] there's something I wanted to talk about with the last mission and those illusions. I know there's people who know how to work with tech or magic, usually one or the other... well, I don't know anything about making things, but I know there's a lot you can do with the right tools and know-how. And there was some magic and gear that could push back on the illusions. Like a bracer I have, and one of the spells on the manadrives!

I was talkin' with Q'uila - she's a blacksmith that works with enchanting. And I know there's this big chunky book on magic and magitek in the library. Uhh, I've never read it [ because NO THANKS ] but I didn't know if we could... do something? To help with these missions? Create some kinda...I don't know, big barriers when we turn them on, that don't need magic folk casting them! Put our heads and resources together and make somethin' cool!

[ Cool magitek science junk!! ]

A-anyway! [ Because he realises he's really reaching here-! ] If anyone's interested, I'm fine if you wanna check out the bracer that helped with the illusions - even if you need to take it apart. And I know Senku's been checking out the manadrives - that has a magic barrier spell too, and Light got manuals on the things. And I got some other gems and protection gear from my world too! If it'll help. Never know, right?

[ ACTION: standard coach ]

[ And for those of you who come into the standard coach, either because of the message or just because you were passing through, Tidus has taken up a table with a bunch of...everything on the table. Tablets, pens, folded clothes in different sizes, cute toys and ...cubes?.

And Tidus is sat taking up an entire booth couch, legs folded and playing a handheld game.

Look at this sudden Free Real Estate over here. Don't mind Inigo as he starts to lean against the Dennis' side a little. Just bros being bros, while being betrayed by a different bro. The usual. ]

.. right. That must've been pretty intense, especially for your first mission.

Won't say it weren't. Lot of the mission got real heavy.

Regardless Tidus sighs, a frown pulled across his lips; head tilting with the consideration. ]

It's mixed. I don't think we always get mind games, do we? [ A glance at Inigo. ] We've had fighting off giant sea monsters, dealing with weird blobs that turn into monsters at night; more monsters, robots, suddenly fighting inside a computer...

[ ... or whatever you call that one mission. ]

But it was never 'hey, here's all your worst nightmares on display!' [ His hands come over about his head in dramatics - of all those worst nightmares coming out of one's own brain.

When he sets it out like that, though... ]

This was way different from everything else.

[ Inigo nods - as much as he can, anyway, while he's still laying there against Dennis' shoulder. ]

Yeah, usually we just have to fight near the end of a mission. This is the first time that there's been something worse than just monsters threatening us. And I've been on pretty much most of these missions. [ So he'd know.

But that only makes it more concerning. What if this is some sort of omen of what's about to await them? What if it just gets worse, or harder? ]

That's why I wanted to train with you, teach you how to swordfight so you'd be able to handle that. But I guess that couldn't really do much when it came to these illusions..

[ He's sorry, Dennis. :( ]

[Who gets the one braincell when they're not together? Does it depend on the day?]

Both sounds like shit options... rather not see any more of my nightmares than I gotta. My brain does that good enough for me.

[And fighting while maybe easier as it's something they can physically deal with, people can get hurt. People can die. He looks down at Inigo against his shoulder, frowning slightly.]

Hey- you've been doing just fine. Weren't here that long before that mission, you could only teach me so much. 'Sides, don't think I don't remember you swooping in to be my knight in shining armor.

[Dennis smiles softly, nudging Inigo gently with his elbow.]

[ It's like a lottery. No one knows how the One Braincell truly works.

But is this compliment and potentially (very much so) embarrass Inigo time? Because Tidus can get on board with that, swinging a grin Inigo's way. ]

He's good at that. He's a right prince, you know? [ YOU KNOW. YOU GET IT?? ] He's always ready to serve the people!

[ Calling people a prince is very normal. ]

[ Oh no.

Oh noooooooo.

This was supposed to be a serious conversation, why did it suddenly turn into this?! How could this happen to him. Why is he suddenly in the spotlight here. And then there's Tidus using the p-word, please, you can't just say that in front of Dennis! ]

Wha, I--!!

[ He's giving Tidus some serious Evil Eye over here. DON'T TELL HIM, DUDE. What if Dennis might start thinking differently of him because of it?! ]

N-No, it's just.. of course I'm not going to leave a friend behind by himself when he's in trouble?! Anyone would've done what I did!

[Dennis calls dibs on Wednesday and Saturday.]

You'd think most people would.

[But Dennis is smiling, poor Inigo so flustered. He probably shouldn't help Tidus tease him anymore, it must be difficult for Inigo after all. Thankfully that prince comment does catch his attention. He's pretty sure Tidus has called him that before...]

Haha, yeah... [A contemplative beat and then-] For real though?

[ It's okay, a little suffering for Inigo makes him stronger. In theory. Tidus is ready to let the teasing when he already gets a reaction from the guy, but as Dennis seems to ask for confirmation, he sits on what to do for a second or so.

But just that, throwing Dennis a quick look and raise of his brow to give him the answer. ]

Inigo's just shy. [ And also giving him the biggest stink eye. ] I was just saying you're used to being out there protecting people 'cause of your life! You're a pair of professional heroes, now that I think about it.

[ Can't forget about Dennis being a firefighter, now! ]

[ Inigo would like to thank Naga and just about every single supernatural force out there that keeps Tidus from pressing on with it after Dennis asks for confirmation.

.. well, and he guesses he thanks Tidus himself too. His gaze softens when Tidus relents, maybe even something like gratitude in him. ]

Hey, Tidus, you protect people too! Don't leave yourself out of this!

[ Even if it wasn't.. exactly.. Tidus's plan for his life. But shit happens, and Tidus's effort deserves to be acknowledged. ]

Though I have to admit Dennis probably looks super cool when he's saving people.

[Nice save, Tidus!

And wait wait, now this is getting turned on him. Uhhhh, Dennis shrugs a little, maybe some what bashful himself. Why can't any of you boys take compliments easily?]

Promise ain't as cool as you think. Really "hot" actually. [Ba dum tsh!] Uniforms real bulky and y'get all gross and sweaty. Not cool.

[He shakes his head.]

[ Tidus can take compliments easy!! But Dennis and Inigo have been doing the people-saving job a lot longer than him. Still, he tips his head with a smile and a 'I guess so!' type response to Inigo including him. ]

Oh yeah, I got a book actually with some photos... [ which sounds weird to say, but-! ] I was gonna get you to talk about it for the party, but maybe we can have a peek now?

[ If he holds out his hand, and--plop! There in his cheating hammerspace ways appears a book in a paper bag, rather glossy as he takes it out. Revealing the cover, it does have humans on it, wowie. All of them somehow very good-looking guys. ]

[ EXCUSE YOU, are all men with Dennis' profession just really hot?!

That's definitely the first thought going through Inigo's mind the moment he sees the cover of the book, though he is trying to keep the thirst to himself here. But don't worry, it has been Seen. It has been Noted.

Instead he'll say something a little more productive and less weird, like: ]

Wait, really? Is that the uniform you were talking about?

[Maybe? Dennis has only been in one fire department, he can't say. Inigo your thirst us getting out of hand, sir. Hope you drink enough water!]

Oh shit- [Dennis laughs a little.] Yeah, looks just like my uniform.

[He'll flip through some pages.]

See here, they're thick and made of fire-retardant material. So we don't catch on fire as easy.

[ save him dennis, you're the only kinda man who can put his fire out ]

It get hot in those? [ ...wait. ] You know - they look thick! Better than catching on fire for sure. But you run into burning buildings in those? Help get people out?

[ That's a thing firefighters do, right. ]

[ M-Maybe you should get that firehose out before he's too dehydrated, Dennis.. ]

.. can you even run in that stuff?

[ That's Inigo's main thought here. He can understand how it'd protect someone against fire, but it also looks pretty heavy! ]

I know my friend Kjelle from back home sometimes has trouble running in her heavy armour.

[... are we talking about an actual hose, because if not this is getting into some weird kink territory boys.]

Gets really hot. [He nods at Tidus.] Yeah, burning buildings or lotta times there will be gas leaks and stuff. We go in trying to get everyone out before shit goes up.

[Dennis laughs a little at Inigo.]

Feels like you've got a whole other person or two on ya when you're running. Lotta times the adrenaline helps you not notice till later.

[Hours later when everything is sore and you want to sleep forever.]

Can only imagine running in armor, maybe sorta the same. Got a helmet with my uniform too.

[ we're talking about someone's hose, bow chika wow wow ]

Huh. ...now you're both reminding me of the helmeted guys I had to deal with crashing a wedding who used flamethrowers to try and stop us. [ Thanks, Yevon. ]

Not that they were well-armoured, or the kind of firefighters you want to meet. [ ...but then he realises, probably because of Inigo (and it's him he looks to first), he mimics holding an object at his side. ] It was a weapon that spewed out fire. You ever heard of them?

What? [ That's in reaction to the last thing Tidus is saying, eyebrows knitting together into a thinking frown. ] I mean, back home we usually just do that sort of thing with spellbooks..

[ But what Tidus is talking about doesn't sound quite as magical? Maybe? Also, bro, what kind of wedding crash flamethrower adventure did you have??

He thinks of what Dennis was saying too though, and since there's just so many questions in his head about everything going on here, he first settles on saying with an arm gesturing at Dennis: ]

But I'm pretty sure Dennis' job isn't bringing more fire to the fire! [ That sounds like the opposite of helping to put out a fire. ]

[Yevon sounds like a dick. Who has flamethrowers at a wedding? ... actually, wait that could be cool, depending.]

No, no you definitely don't bring more fire to a fire. That's the last thing you want.

[He considers what Tidus explains and his nose scrunches a little in thought.]

Flamethrower sounds right, not sure what else you'd call something that does that. Sounds like a really crazy wedding you crashed.

Right, right! [ Tidus agrees with a laugh to Inigo's assessment. True, they're totally different jobs! ]

Yeah, it was a crazy wedding. Some guy tried marrying my- [ he has to pause, think- a second or so taken before he settles on- ] --my friend, Yuna. I was a guardian for her! Don't know if I told you... anyway, I hardly remember what the big idea was. Politics, or something? Those guys aren't in power anymore, so good riddance to them!

[ He looks at Inigo. ] You know, I think I rarely saw magic people when we went up against the leaders. They just used machina-- machines. But maybe I'm just forgetting a few... we tried to keep out of their hair most of the time.

I guess it's since my world is so.. [ He makes a vague hand gesture. Inigo means to say 'old-fashioned', but it feels odd to say that about a world that he is so used to.. It's just that all these other places are way too new-fangled! ] We don't have all sorts of machines like that, so we got to settle for magic when fighting when traditional weapons aren't good enough.

[ He shakes his head though. No, this isn't the important part here. He wants to highlight Tidus here a bit more, but he does notice the way the other stumbles around talking about Yuna, so he doesn't want to draw too much attention to that either considering how much of a sore subject she can be..

So it's time to make this more of a general thing. ]

But look, Dennis! I told you, Tidus is a real hero too. He was out there fighting the power!

[Dennis does note the pause as Tidus figures out what to call this Yuna. Suspicious, but not his business.]

Don't think you mentioned the guardian thing before, but sounds like you had a lot going on in that Spira place.

[Wild shit, lot crazier than being a fire fighter.]

Sounds like the both of ya are knights in shining armor. I'm uh... mines less shiny, but guess I got armor too.

[ Pfft. Tidus waves a hand dismissively. ]

It was a temporary job for me. I'd rather go back to playing sports again! Speaking of- [ speaking of!! ], Dennnis, what's a big sports where you're from? Rugby? Football? Roland's a rugby guy. And Inigo's idea of fun is pulling draogn tails.

[ Or, close enough. ]

[ Don't mind Inigo over here, who's letting out an 'ugggghh' sound the moment Tidus adds that last part! ]

Well, excuse my world for having other things going on!

[ Granted, he's keeping that vague on purpose, so it can sound like 'other forms of entertainment' rather than 'no time for sports when everyone is dying, okay'.

He'll be good otherwise though and pipe down so Dennis can actually answer. ]
