Llama 13 - [Audio]
(OOC: Threads arising from this question may contain some unpleasant aspects of Eva's world re: mewtwo/s, including how they were created and how they're seen. Eva'll take any actual talk of it off the ICP.)
A question, if you will. [Eva is nowhere near as calm as she tries to sound, and it becomes clearer as she speaks. She's also recording all of this on Roro for later playback.]
Say... Say you know someone. You call them a good person, someone who always helps and tries to do the right thing. Yet, they've also protected a creature... no, a person your society and culture deems a kill-on-sight threat, for very good reasons. It's not the right thing to do by society, and it means... means they'll be branded a Traitor to be executed if anyone ever finds out. [A breath -you wouldn't be wrong if you get the feeling this is personal for her, because, it is. ] But they feel it's the right thing to do because the person is a person and worse yet, the equivalent of a child. So they do. They protect the person, even knowing they've signed their death warrant.
What... What you do if you found out? Would... would you condemn them? Or would you... would you agree with them?
Ah... and um. For those that saw that illusion, the one with the kids -my sisters-, can... Can I talk to you? Privately?

Guess I haven't told you much about how ghosts are seen in my world. Long story short, I'd be right there cheering this person on. If I wasn't breaking in to help out your creature/person myself.
Where do you want to meet?

[Those words come off personal to her as well, after all, she had fallen in love with one of her people's worst enemies and proven to them that Lythrana was no threat in the end.]
If this is about that horrible sight, you can come to my cabin. It's empty right now save for Nova. I'll bring us drinks and won't be long.
Action!
[It's hard, to believe that this right, but she tries anyway.]
I'll meet you there - and grog would be good, if don't mind.
[She means alcohol but also: slang.
True to her word, she'll be waiting outside Willow's cabin. ]

[Asch's tone is, perhaps, a bit blunt. But he's sitting here in resonance with a flesh eater, a flesh eater who is in fact guilty of the reason flesh eaters are universally condemned - sitting here guilty of the same crime himself -
Eva's not the only one who is cut close by her hypothetical. Not that flesh eaters are ever children, since blades aren't, in general, but all the rest? It hits close to home, and that comes out in the barely-contained boil of passion in his voice. It is an issue of justice, after all.]
But especially in the case of a child, who didn't choose to be what they are, I presume - I would be glad to remove from my life anyone who did condemn such a person.
no subject
You'd presume correct about this hypothetical child.
[A breath, then-] Anything else related to this hypothetical I'd- I'd rather not blast over the ICP.

I wouldn't care, I protected those who were only evil by having the same surname as our enemies. Those people I protected were innocent, and didn't deserve what happened to them.

Wise words, yet very true. At the end of the day, I know the person who protects the child'll do what's right by the child.

So with what information you've given, I suspect I would agree with them. But I've never cared for any system that treats people like targets for things they have no control over.

A question like this requires more specificity than is provided, I think. For what reason has this child been deemed a threat, and are they truly the threat they have been deemed to be? Is there someplace they could go where they would be safe - a different part of the world, perhaps, or a different society?
[Perhaps context of his own is required.]
I ask because there are certain parts of my world for which this is applicable. Several decades ago, my world experienced a global catastrophe known as the Omnic Crisis, in which Omnics - robotic life forms initially manufactured by humans - rose up in an effort to wipe out humanity. They did not succeed, but...it was uncertain for a while, and it took a united effort from multiple countries to turn the tide of the war. While the Crisis has been over for some time, not all of the fighting has stopped. There are areas of the world in which Omnics - many of whom are fully sapient - are treated as full citizens with rights, and there are areas in which the fighting never stopped, and Omnics are deemed, as you put it, a shoot-on-sight threat. While some can be dangerous and are indeed built with weaponry and an intent to use it, others prefer to simply live their lives. What they are able and willing to do depends heavily on their circumstances and location.
While I am certain they are not the same, I cannot help but liken the child in your proposed scenario to an Omnic and wonder if relocating to a more accepting society, should one exist, would be enough to resolve the issue.

[It's still an Uncomfortable notion and always will be, but if they're Sapient, then... it's not porygon, right?
She's Calm. Calm and not on the verge of a breakdown because Gods of Arkea, if only it were that easy. Even the Southern Island isn't safe, and while uninhabited islands or deep in the mountains or Deep Forests are a thought, that's no life.
No guarantee of safety, and Eva doesn't even know how to word it so she doesn't implicate herself.]
Ah... This might be better to take off the ICPs, I think.

I think this person might see more to the other than what others see, but that is a guess on my part.

[Eva hums a bit in thought, then:] I think you're right in that, why else would they risk so much?

And to answer the question...no world's legal system is perfect, they're often corrupted by other motivations. And that definitely sounds like the case here. But if that person was truly my friend, I'd trust their judgment.

I don't know how much I can tell you, but I'm in the library if you want to talk more about this. It's not... not the sort of thing that should be done on the ICPs, you know?
[Also the fact that she's offering to open up to all these people? That's... really only possible because she's been on the train so long and been exposed to other worlds and ideas.]

When I first met Guilmon, I was really scared that someone would take him away from me. There was an an organization that didn't think digimon were alive like humans are. They said that they were just rogue computer programs that needed to be destroyed. But I knew they were wrong.
[It had been a frightening thought for a child who had just met an amazing creature who was rapidly becoming his best friend.]

[Yet, for she's heard it a lot since her initial broadcast, Eva still doesn't truly believe it, because she knows the real test would come if anyone from home ever boarded the train and found out.]
So I've been told, yet the situation is complicated, and I'm not sure how much should be said over the ICPs.
