For those of you I have not yet met- my name is Ansem, and it is a pleasure to meet you. I have only been here a short while, but I have noticed somewhat of a lack of structure here. [His lips twitch upwards in a smile] From what I understand of the situation, this is not a surprise. However, I would like to ask of you the following;

Which among you have skills you would be willing to teach, and which among you would have skills you seek to know? I am not proposing a school, mind, though there is an alarming number of young people here whom I am certain could benefit from such- but merely some sort of mentorship program in sharing knowledge. The recent events have been...stressful, for us all, and I, for one, would find someone who has teachable defenses against illusions.

In terms of what I myself am able to teach- I am familiar with the magitech sciences, including casting many of the magics thereof. I am no master sorcerer, but simple magics I could likely share with a dutiful pupil. I am fond of many other sciences as well, though some are a bit less applicable to our situation. Still, if there is an interest to learn, I am willing to teach what I can.

[He bows his head slightly]

Thank you for your time. And- should anyone wish for a shoulder to lean on, whether because of the recent happenings or anything else, all one has to do is ask.

I don't really know what I could teach, though. The only thing I'm really an expert at is ghost hunting. And I guess I know a little about ghost science?

And what is wrong with math? It's quite useful. But it sounds as though if we are to encounter any ghosts, we know to whom to turn!

Because I'm really bad at it. And not having to put myself through that daily is seriously one of the highlights of this adventure so far.

I guess. Though it seems like the ghosts in my world are really different from ghosts in other worlds.

I have learned I am bad at resisting illusions. Does that mean I should simply avoid them? [A little self-depreciating humor there, but intentionally relevant. He's still smiling, at least?] And perhaps they are- much of the technology present in the city, I did not understand, but my knowledge gave me at least a basis to try.

I think there might be a small difference between a class I'll probably never use after high school and someone trying to hijack our brains.

Well, I can at least give it a try if we ever run into jerky ghosts. You know, as opposed to the pretty decent ones we've met so far.

I have been wanting to augment my mask to help me fight the illusions. Sometimes having technological aid helps.

Though admittedly some predominately mechanical beings were deeply affected in the last mission.

Curious. I would have liked to understand more of the nature, but until such a time, all we can do is hypothesize.

I've been researching magic since I arrived on the train, using my scanner to study commonalities between the magical presentation between worlds and the manipulation of supernatural energies.

There has to be something that follows the basic laws of magic that we can come to understand here.

Um... if there's people who are younger who don't know how to defend themselves, I can help teach you. I use a spear to fight... I don't want people getting into situations where they can't fight back.

If you haven't seen them yet, there are notices pinned in standard for things folks have already offered to teach. I run sign language lessons a couple of times a week for anyone who's interested in learning.

I should hope it goes without saying that I am willing to assist. My magical skills have grown considerably these past years, including combat applications. I have even learned to craft some simple yet solid illusions, should anyone wish for practical training in the matter.

While I myself would be unable to teach anything due to my level of skill. [She isn't going to say age simply because she knows people can master certain things at her age, so that wasn't exactly a factor in her mind.]

I think having a mentorship type of thing is a good idea. Might help form bonds too.

Kidding aside though, I've been learning some self-defense from whoever is willing to teach me, and I'd really like to know more about magic and science, especially since our team is kinda science based.

I can't offer much, but I know how to cook and play the guitar? I... guess I took some therapy, so I could always offer some advice about that too. I'm not even close to an expert, though.

[wryly] I would like you to know that this only makes me more interested in starting a school. Or at least pairing youths up with an elder.

But cooking is certainly a useful skill to teach!

Ugh, but school is boring! And it's not like I was ever any good at it anyways.

[Plus how much has he missed out on by now? He's been in the hospital at least a few months, plus there's all the classes he only half payed attention too while the SQUIP was handling everything.]

Cooking is more fun, anyways. I've been playing around with it, so I can make some desserts too, now.

I can help buy some like...therapy things, if that's somethin' people could do with. Don't know anything about it myself, but. There's gotta be books that'll help, right?

I wouldn't mind teaching anyone who wants to learn! It's one of the few things I'm good at. My mom taught me a lot.

Yeah, that might be a good idea. There are probably some books on mental health already, but I should probably check what we have.

As for lessons, leeeet me know whenever you're up for doing them? I can work around your schedule. I don't have anything I need to do whenever, 'cept some training in the busy gym. [ 'Cause that's the way to differentiate them. ] I do that after breakfast.

Thanks in large part to the peculiarities of the world I was living in before arriving on the train, I happen to have a bit of professional teaching experience, so provided we can get our hands on some appropriate books and materials, I could likely provide basic lessons or refresher courses on a number of standard school subjects for the train's younger residents.

The topics I have the most experience with though are political science and rhetoric. I don't know how many takers there'd be for lessons on those topics, but if anyone's interested in learning about them, I'm willing to teach about them.

I might take you up on that. I've got anxiety, and the last place I was in I got some acting lessons... but public speaking help would be... uh. Helpful.

It generally is, and a lot of the same skills can be used to help you speak more effectively in normal conversations too. If you'd like to get together to discuss the particulars we can arrange a time and place.

Wouldn't be familiar with the concept of alternate worlds, would you?

More so than you'd probably believe.

[Given that she's been several alternate versions of herself.]

Why do you ask?

... The last place I was in was also a group of people from different worlds thrown together, and one of my very good friends was dating your daughter Jaina. Or... one of your daughters, in some worlds? Or an alternate you's daughter? ... Multiverses are wild.

[Oh you have no idea, Casper.

I'm aware of Jaina and my alternate self's other children, yes. In fact, another of my daughters- Jaisyn- is here on the train.

As for your friend and Jaina, were they getting along? Treating each other well?

Yeah, we've met.

Yeah, they were. I mean, he has some superpowers, but I'm pretty sure she's more than capable of kicking his ass if he starts being awful.

Definitely sounds like my daughter then. In any case, as long as they're happy together, you won't find me objecting, even if romantic relationships can be tricky in places like this.

What kinda books you'd need? If you throw some topics or names my way, I'll see what I can grab.

No specific titles, but some standard math, science, and language textbooks would be helpful. I'd have to check on the ages of the children on board to see roughly what grade level we'd need though. I'd include history in there too, but with the number of worlds represented here, that could get complicated very quickly.

Maybe some art books as well. There's one or two specific ones that I can think of that I could probably get myself, but the more variety the better. And if we needed anything for reading and literature that wasn't already in the library, we could get those as needed.

Well, if you can figure out the grade and that, lemme know! Maybe we can get some more fun kind of learning too. Like - video games? Head sets? The stuff with puzzles that let you get to the next level if you get the right answers.

We used to have those back where I'm from. But most of us just snuck in our own games to play.

And yes, if we do go the educational games route, we'll have to find a way to prevent kids from doing that. Because as you've just demonstrated, they absolutely would if they thought they could.
