1. Morning

[ Hope the passengers aren't sick of seeing Light's face on platform mornings, because here she is again. Live from 1-A. ]

I've got a favour to ask. I'm going to order a transgate, and a manual for it. It's something we, uh, the military use back home, to move troops around. The favour's that... I don't know exactly how they work, so it'd be up to other people to figure it out.

If anyone has the points to spare, ordering spares wouldn't be a bad idea. Could do with a network.

2. Afternoon

[ HER AGAIN. After the platform, this time. She's holding up a case, in the process of unloading a set of curved pieces of machinery into the armoury carriage. ]

Got it. Anyone want to try it out, it's in the armoury.

So more like warping then, in that you essentially make two holes in space-time and join them up?

[ being from a world with no real earth equivalence is suffering. ]

Right. Figured they'd be useful on a train this long, never mind mission applications.

Gods would it ever. I'm more than willing to try and get one after the mission, too. I only have one or two vital things left, but that're small, so...

[What use are points if she can't help her community with them.]

Exactly like that, and yeah, it's tech. [ Not that tech means as much given the different standards people're bringing with them, but... ]

You think we can use 'em on missions?

[ Not to mention just making the train easier to navigate in general. She has to stop to think about the size question. 'Big enough to fit a Long Gui' isn't exactly helpful. ] Packed up, the size of a gear case. Assembled... about two metres. But they can get much bigger than that - small aircraft fit through easy. The pieces don't connect physically, so...

[ she holds out three fingers, clustered and pointing towards the camera, and then spreads them. ]

Cool, so big item. Got it!

[ Hey, a thing like that? Totally worth spending the points. He'd jump off to order right now, but he'll take a second to ask- ]

Nothing else you think we can do with? I've got some points to spend.

Er, right. [ okay she totally forgot all the important information.

After that blow to morale, she rallies. ]

We're good for supplies at the moment. Material for the printer, maybe.

Like paper? Sure, I can get some of that.

[ He knows about that printer, at least. ...and then there's that 3D one he has no idea how to use. ]

I'll leave the transgates with you or wherever you want them.

Paper can't hurt. [They've printed enough leaflets, after all!]

I'm thinking armoury, and we'll give 'em to our scientists there. Thanks, as always.

[Otoha just looks over at her as he's blinking awake. It takes him a bit to get going some days, especially since the River.]

How many more do you need? Got a bunch of points...

[His tone is completely flat. He doesn't have the energy or desire to try to emotions right now.]

Could be a waste if we can't get them to work... [ but she shifts to talk to him instead. While she's noticed the change in him, she at a loss as to how to deal with it. ]

Maybe two, so the scientists have a spare to break. [ Two hundred points, huh. Well. Since he broached the topic first...

She rests a hand on the terminal, and raises an eyebrow. Asking what happened isn't something she's about to do - that's his business. If it was relevant, he'd tell her. ]

Yeah. Everyone in this room could kill him easy - [Well, maybe not Emporio, but that's because he's not sure if Emporio has the nerve to kill someone. Not everyone does.] - but didn't want him to get out of it that easily.

... It'll be fine. Lost an arm before and kept going, what's he gonna do?

I can take a crack at it. I just have one question:

When someone goes through one end, is there an indicator at the other end that someone's about to come through?

Yeah. There's a reaction, the gates aren't active all the time, just when you use 'em.

Good to know. I'll dive in with testing as soon as possible.

Appreciate it. I'll put them in the armoury if it goes through... then they're all yours.

[ But hopefully a lot more effective with less chance of breaking something in him by needing to over do it? ]

Sure. [ Hm, actually. ] Guess it's more like what the demons did.

Those portals. That would be useful to have at our disposal.

Thanks, I'd appreciate it. [ There's some rapid adjustment as she remembers Ryo's reactions to things like manadrives. ] The transgates? They're... portable gateways. Kinda like the demon gates from last time.

[Modern technology is A Lot, but at least he's willing to learn!]

Okay. [That much makes sense.] Are they permanent once we set them up, or can we move them?

Move 'em all you like. They're drive-powered, so you can tell them to fly where you want. [ What do they have on-board that's similar. ] Like... drones.

[Bold of her to assume he understands how drones work.]

Okay. [He's a little lost on the theory, but he should be able to figure it out in practice.] Should I give it to you once I have it?

.. Lightning, how much weird stuff do they have where you're from?

[ Don't get him wrong. He's pretty sure that everything coming from Lightning's world so far has been a great help - he's used the grav-con plenty of times, but it's all just so weird to someone who comes from a world where the most advanced piece of technology is a ballista.

Also he doesn't mean it in a bad way please don't murder him. ]

[ ... Pff. ]

Weird, huh? From where I'm standing, things are finally looking more normal. Any troop'd have these.

[ Inigo tries to imagine an entire army with all this weird technology.

.. but he can't. It's like he can almost feel his head bursting with the very thought. ]

I'm fairly sure that any soldier who'd carry these on the battlefield where I come from would get very odd looks.. [ He shakes his head slightly. ] War must look very different in your world.

Not many wars any more. Nowadays it's to take out monsters. [ She sobers at his expression, but her eyes are fond. ] Don't think I'd be any better on yours. Don't you have ... magic-users, in your armies?

We do. One of my friends is a mage.

[ So magic isn't all that weird to Inigo. As long as it's the usual stuff, like thunderbolts and fireballs. Not.. all this weird technology stuff. ]

But even though I've never used magic before myself, I'm fairly sure it isn't anything like the things you may find where you come from.

[Well, it looks like there's plenty of people offering buying and testing, at least.]

I think you're my new favorite person if you can get the damn things going. Also, I'm reading that manual on principle, but if you still need hands, grab me any time, that stuffs ahead of my time but I'm pretty good at figuring things out.

Are you looking for any test subjects?

[Translocation technology - like Sombra's, it sounds like, but on a wider scale.]

Do they require any components specific to your world, or could they be reverse engineered, do you think?
