Kazoo Day Twenty One | Message | Text
The Voidtrecker Express would like to thank all passengers for their hard work. The Voidtrecker Express acknowledges the upset many passengers feel at being recruited and apologises for the distress and inconvenience caused.
Despite any feelings of distress you have proven your dedication to the cause and to each other. You have saved countless lives. Passengers have become Voidtreckers.
In the month of Imagination a question-and-answer session was held. A question was asked and answered that can be expanded on, now that Voidtreckers have more experience and understanding.
Voidtrecker Selenay asked What criteria determines whether a particular world needs our assistance, or whether it can save itself, or perish?
The answer given was: There are many criteria. Worlds in peril may call for void assistance, we still have access to that function. Some worlds are monitored and help is requested remotely. Missions are chosen by proximity, skills needed and level of acceptable risk. Catastrophe missions are always accepted. Catastrophe missions meet strict criteria: There has been an absolute loss of life or world structure, but the outcome can be changed within the narrow parameters possible to this Voidcraft.
The mission Voidtreckers just undertook was a Catastrophe-class mission. As were the missions on Systems #6416, #27462947582, #7212108 and #25768. Each of those worlds was defeated, resulting in a complete loss of life, the extinction of a species or the destruction of the planet.
Often when a world is lost, it is lost forever. There is no way to save them. However, in certain cases, introducing a change in the hours before the point of destruction is all that is needed to save it. When that is the case, it is within this craft's functions to arrive in those hours and introduce that change. The Voidtreckers are that change.
The Voidtrecker Express will inform Voidtreckers in the future when they are embarking on a catastrophe-class mission.
Another question was asked by Voidtrecker Yuume. Is there a way to contact our homes from the train to let them know we're alright? Even once would do.
The answer was: There may be a way. It will take further research. There are passengers from many worlds.
The Voidtrecker Express has been researching this. A place has been found.
World #398050 is a void nexus known locally as Tshering. As a void nexus this world has strong links with the void and the connection through worlds. World #398050 is home to the Endless River. Legends speak of this river being powerful enough to send thoughts from one heart to another across any distance. All that is needed is for you to know who it is you wish to reach.
There are rocks on Tshering formed from the same matter as the metal used to build Voidcraft. Strong enough to travel through the river and the void itself, they will carry your messages. Bags have been provided to carry them through the river.
Warning: Voidtreckers are understandably curious, but it is recommended that they do not touch or consume the Endless River. Those with powers of the mind or those capable of absorbing feelings should not use those powers on the Endless River. It is inadvisable to remove your SCA on this world.
The Voidtrecker Express will spend a day here, arriving today, the twenty-first of Kazoo, and leaving this evening. The dressing carriage is open for your convenience and food was stocked with this stop in mind. World #398050 is ranked #3 on the list of 'Top Ten Picnic Destinations' according to Void Traveller Now so it is hoped that Voidtreckers will have an enjoyable day.
