[Tony gets a wry little smile.]

[He grins at the playful flirt.]

[Affection lights his eyes and he shakes his head, though his smile warms.]

Where do you think I am? Knowing me as you do, you should be able to figure it out.

[Which means he's in the newest carriage, because of the sense of being outside.]

Did I just get elf-sassed? I think I did. Behave or I'm telling your daddy on you.

[He gets up with a chuckle and flips the ICP off from his room. It only takes a few minutes before he's coming into the garden with two coffee mugs. He goes up to Maglor and offers the coffee then a hug.]

Glad your family made it safely back. You would've been proud of your brother and father in the mountains.

[Tony earns that laugh but Maglor doesn't answer. Only waits for his friend to arrive. And he's not disappointed. The coffee has him smile, but the hug has him tense before slowly and shyly leaning into it.

Hugs from Maedhros are one thing. From others, it's a big surprise.]

Thank you for your part in keeping them that way, and bringing them back.

[So long as he could tell the feeling wasn't unwanted, Tony liked surprising people.]

My pleasure. Have you gotten many responses yet of people needing help?

[He was paying attention to any of the open conversations. This was his train and he needed to know who was struggling- or at least that was his excuse for being nosy.]

[He doesn't mind nice surprises from those he cares about, and Tony is definitely on that list!]

So far just the one, but it's early yet.

That's fair. I heard Kaito's response so I'll try to keep an eye out for Conan too.

[His attention shifts back from the rest of the train back to his friend. There was one person in particular he was concerned about.]

I'm not sure if your biology is similar enough to a human's, but if the music doesn't help enough for your brother we have medicine on board for anxiety.

Thank you. I confess I do not know him as well as I should, but I will take steps to rectify that.

[And then Tony brings the topic to someone he knows without being given a name. Maglor takes a sip of ~~life-giving-liquid~~ coffee before speaking.] It's...less anxiety than memories. But if you would like to test this medicine on one of us, I offer myself.

[Was it really necessary to know each person on the train on more than an acquaintance level? Tony didn't think so. That's why he kept asking the kids and his friends for news he should be aware of around the train.

He considers Maglor's offer for a moment.]

We call a certain kind of anxiety disorder 'Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder'. It's very common among people who have memories that haunt them from war or some other tragic situation. It's called anxiety, but it doesn't manifest as anxiety exclusively. For some it comes out as depression they can't pull themselves out of or even violent episodes. Depending on the situation they'd gone through, the severity of the condition changes.

And I appreciate your offer, but if I accepted that instead of suggesting your father be the one we experiment with I'm quite certain I'll get skinned alive.

[Tony keeps offering outs that he's not sure he deserves.

Maglor listens though, keeping the irrelevant comment to himself. It's not important that he'd once managed an army of thousands, knew each one of them. They'd mostly been elves whom he'd grown up with.

He takes a careful sip of coffee again, letting it attempt to warm him.]

...Then my whole family should try it. At the very least, Nelyo and I should.

[He patted Maglor's back lightly, knowing these memories and the guilt associated with them were heavy on all of the Feanorian family's hearts.]

If it makes you feel any better, I've been taking them since I arrived here. The supply keeps replenishing just like the stock in the kitchen.

[A pause.]

What does the name Nelyo mean?

[Memories had been all Maglor'd had for far too long.

Hearing Tony takes this medicine himself encourages Maglor to reach out to briefly embrace the man.

But he takes the bit of subject change gladly.]

Nelyo is to Maedhros as Kano is to Maglor. It is short for Nelyafinwe, one of my older brother's names.

[He smiled as Maglor hugged him again, glad there was something he could offer to help the elf. He was also felt a bit humbled by the fact, Maglor didn't see any need to ask that this conversation be kept quite. The faith that Tony wouldn't harm his trust was something he wasn't use to. Even Ignis liked to remind him when certain things needed to be private or someone else's boundaries needed to be respected- which irritated Tony that it wasn't automatically assumed he would do that. Fortunately that was one of few things the couple clashed on so far.

Anyway, that wasn't currently important. The point was, he appreciated his friend.]

I thought you said Kano also meant brother or something like that.

[He huffed and rolled his eyes, like this was a huge inconvenience.]

I'll just have to learn your language and find out for myself, aren't I?

[It doesn't actually even occur to Maglor to ask Tony for silence. It's a personal matter. He knows this man wouldn't spout it out to just anyone.

He's surprised into chuckling and shakes his head a little.]

Hanno means brother. As does toron.

[Maglor smirks at the play.]

Ask my father for lessons. He's the one who essentially created our written language.

Oh god.. I'm not sure I have that many hours in the day to get lessons from your father.

[He tries to look horrified at the idea, but the concern comes off very insincere.]

Well either way, I am curious about your music more than your names- since you people have a billion of those. What do you think about treating our team to another party? If not, perhaps something more intimate?

[The chuckle becomes an actual laugh.]

And I have only told you of some of the words! And only in Quenyan. There's also Sindarin. And various off-shoots and accents.

Then there is the Dwarvish language, the Goblin language....... [HE CAN CONTINUE but he's grinning a bit too much so trails off.

BUT. He sobers up a bit, grin smoothing to a more gentle smile.]

Another party would be good. I will gladly perform for it.

After our last run in, I don't care to learn the language of those Goblin things, ever. After learning French and Japanese back home, I thought I was done bothering to learn other languages.

[He smirked.]

But I may need to know what awful things you and your brothers are saying about me.

[He grinned, pleased to hear Maglor would help with the party.]

Excellent. If I had a few people from my world teach you a couple of our holiday songs would you be able to play a few of those?

[He had another song he was planning too, but he could work that out later.]

Tengwar, the written alphabet used by all free peoples on Arda. So, not used by Goblins or Orcs. [His papa is brilliant, okay? And he's proud of the good things Feanor's made and done.

Maglor gives in enough to playfully roll his eyes at his friend.] Nor would I teach you their tongue. Father doesn't know all the languages of the world I still walk back on Arda. [Because Feanor kind of died before meeting those races.

He sniffs at Tony, raising his head up high as if insulted.]

If we were to speak ill of you where you could hear, we would do so in a language you could understand.

...Father on the other hand...

[But he grins juust a little, grey eyes bright.]

All I would need to learn is the sheet music and someone to test my readings on.

[For once, Tony wasn't following this too well.]

Does that mean Quenyan, Sindarin, and Dwarven all shared Tengwar as the written language or is Tengwar both a written and spoken language?

[He snickered a bit at that eye roll and it amused him even further at the display of offense, knowing it was all in jest.]

I might have to tease him now that I know he doesn't know every single language. That's just disgraceful. How can he claim to be so brilliant without knowing them all?

[He'd just admitted that he didn't know more than two besides his native one so clearly he couldn't judge.]

I'll see what I can do about the sheet music. I'd hate for us to purchase something from the train store and it not be a scale you're familiar with.

[Whereas Maglor is enjoying himself immensely!]

Tengwar is written only, and is used by the elves, men, and hobbits. Dwarves have their own runic alphabet.

[Tony is a rare sanctuary where Maglor can relax and just...be. Closer to the elf he'd once been. Playful. Haughty. Proud. The prince he'd once been.]

Ai! You would get me in trouble with my own father?! [He feigns fear at the thought, eyes going wide, and he almost succeeds, perhaps, except his lips are traitorously shaking and those eyes are bright with mirth.]

Hmm...If one of you know the scale and could draw it for me, I could say if I know it or not. Else, someone to teach me the songs will do well enough.

[That was fascinating and such a foreign concept. It was similar if everyone on Earth spoke their own language and then use a binary code like of a computer script to communicate with those outside their society. He could see the advantages of having some kind of universal language that didn't have the nationalism of just one country like Earth did with English. There seemed like there would be problems with that system as well.]

And Feanor design the whole written language?

[He was quite impressed.

He loved it when he got to see Maglor like this! It was fun and he didn't get to see it often enough. It was easy to see how this family was royalty.]

I've warned you before. I am an ass.

[About the musical skills, he nodded, pleased with that answer.]

Agreed, but the next time we get a survey from this damn train asking if we want games, music, or movies, I require that you back me up on the music vote. It's the only way I'll help you with this.

[Which was an utterly ridiculous statement given that he was the one asking for assistance originally!]

The letters, more than language itself. I believe he was inspired by another, but that earlier lettering has long been dismissed.

[Even his family gets to see this side of him rarely. Too much history and painful memories lie between them. But Tony? Tony is precious.

Maglor grins.] Being an ass is only one of the many things you are, my friend. [Elf-sassed again? Oh my~

He nudges Tony lightly.] Music will always have my vote in such surveys. [Because bard. He lives/eats/breathes music!]

Next time I see him, I'll ask if he can write the letters down for me. I'd love to see them.

[A quick pause.]

Wait.. are you sure there's something older than your father? I don't think my mind can fathom that. You've mentioned he was a child of someone, but really.. that's just a myth, right?

[He couldn't stop making fun of his friends even when they weren't present. He laughed again at the reply.]

See, this is why I think you're the smartest one.

[He might live/eat/breathe music but his mouth keeps getting stuffed with bread and cake by his friends.]

That would be best. His hand is better than mine. [A, because Feanor, and B, because Maglor's kind of screwed his hands up to some degree. The glove Tony'd made helps in terms of gripping things, but when it comes to writing...Only Maedhros is worse at it of the four elves present.

And Maglor chuckles again.] Grandfather Finwe is one of the Unbegotten. One of the first elves to wake in the beginning, rather than born.

[He tilts his head as if thinking.] Grandfather Mahten might be younger. Though Cirdan might be older- he's bothered to grow a beard, and we usually can't until we've reached a certain age. [The tone he uses is one that could be serious, could be teasing, or even helpful.

But then he's grinning again and dips a playful little bow.]

Well...I am the only member of my family East of the Sea that lived. If that makes me the smartest, so be it. [No, Maglor, it just makes you the most miserable.

He sobers up though and inclines his head.]

I was glad to do it.
