So the shop's the best place to buy a drink, ya? I just arrived here but could really use anything that dulls the senses. Problem is, don't 'xactly got the cred yet to start tossin' it around on somethin' like that. [As someone who has spent the last five decades with enough money to get whatever he wants, Kerry finds this very offputting, but he's trying not to seem like a rich bitch right off the bat so he still just seems tired more than annoyed.]

[It really doesn't take long for him to grab a bottle and wander into the luggage car. He doesn't sit on the bench but sits next to it, holding the beer botle and breathing in the smoke.]

[Kerry finds the scent of the luggage pretty comforting. When he enters he looks around to find his new friend.]

[He holds up the beer bottle and sets it down on the bench. It's not fantastic beer but it's gotten him buzzed before, so he trusts it.]

[He can't help but smile as he reaches out for the beer.]

It's not an issue. There's not really a lot of stuff that I want to buy. I don't really need much other than my sword. My old clothes were just for comfort.

In a way. Yakuza, or I used to be. Got recruited for something larger. ... Old group was literally where I grew up, but they're still scum.

[He is too, in a lot of ways. But he's accepted that.]

[Kerry's brow lifts in surprise.] Somethin' larger? Not you got me interested.

So apparently supernatural stuff exists in my world, which I didn't know until a few months ago. Got shot trying to run away from the group with a friend of mine. Ended up being contacted by the will of the city of Shinjuku as I was dying, and got turned into the city's guardian.

Not just for the humans, for the yokai too - the folklore monsters.

[For a moment, Kerry just stares.]

See... If someone had told me that story three days ago I would have thought they were certifiable.

Now I'm at the point where I'm just impressed.

Yeah, no, exactly. Lost my memories there for a while - apparently that's just part of the process - but now I can confirm that it is very deeply weird.

[He's lucky that he got them back, really. He probably shouldn't have, but he did.]

Guessing no supernatural shenanigans you're aware of where you're from?

Ehh.. The shenanigans are all tech-based where I'm from.

Weirdest thing that happened recently was my best friend, who'd been dead for decades, showed up at my door while wearin' someone else's face. Turns out his personality had been put on a chip that was in that poor sap's head.

... You know what, sure. Fits right in on this train, I guess. Technology in my world can't put a person on a computer chip, I'm pretty sure. We've got computers, but they're not in people.

Maybe in like... pacemakers? Only thing I can think of.

Ha. We had pacemakers too, once upon a time. Now you just get a whole new heart.

We can swap out hearts, too... it's tricky but doable. Not much AI though.

Donors? I think. Pretty sure we don't have cloning tech that advanced, but I could be wrong.
