So, uh.. who here has heard of DnD and if you have do you have like... uh.. eight points to spare so we can get the monster manual? I already ordered the player guide and DM guide. Also we might need a set of twenty-sided die but I dee kay, I think we can probably make it work without?

Also, anyone want to volunteer to the first campaign or even maybe be the DM-or uh-dungeon master? I probably shouldn't do it, I ramble like, way too much.

Good. [she's still radiating suspicion, but warning given, she'd much rather talk about the games.] So, what's 'DnD' like? We're playing Monster World.

Oh! It's uh- I mean it really depends on the campaign you're doing. The Guide book as all kinds of different scenarios. The Dungeon Master is the person that uh-basically controls narrations and you have like stat sheets and things listing how strong spells are and what you can carry-that sorta thing.

I'll show you the player guide when it gets here.

I know what it is. [she says, like she didn't only learn about its existence two months ago, and like she isn't going to pore all over that player guide.] What's it like? Tell me about your character!

Uh.. well, I haven't really decided. I'm probably start with a new character since it's a new campaign and all.

What? What happened to your old one? Did you get them killed? [How careless......]

Uh no, I don't wanna be OP against a bunch of new people is all. Tryna keep a level playing field. Kregar is just gonna sit this campaign out-he'll understand, I'm sure.

... What's 'OP'? [Peter please just tell her about your cool character :(] Never mind. I'm asking you to tell me about Kregar. What kind of monsters has he fought?

Uh.. it's an abbreviation of 'over-powered' Anyways-Kregar is a dark elf and he was banished from his village for being a thief and an assassin. He's good people though and fought a lot of good fights. Lots of like low level things like skeletons and some higher level monsters- I mean honestly can't remember the name of every monster-there's a lot-I'll show you the book.

Judging by your mention of players, I assume you must be talking about a game. In which case, what exactly do monsters have to do with it, and what were any of those other things you mentioned? This is just my guess, but I don't believe you can simply jump off this train to fight a campaign against whatever creatures are out there.

Um.. it's not real? It's all made up? DnD is short of Dungeons and Dragons which is a table top Role Play game.

Oh! it's a highly interactive game where I'm from called Dungeons and Dragons. You create your own character along with everyone else and DM-or Dungeon Master serves at the narrator.

So it's like a children's game, then- pretending to be the hero of the Picori and the like.

Um.. I mean, it's not just kids that play it? But yeah, it's a game.

Forgive the confusion, then. I suppose if anything, some of the terms you used sounded as though you meant to lock people away.

[Or maybe sacrifice them to a dark power and become a Boss Battle. Medieval-esque video game kingdom logic, everyone.]

Oh, hey! I think I've got the points to spare, if you'll let me join in... I haven't played in forever, and my character sheet's at home, so I am pretty rusty...

Pssh, no worries. We'll do a whole session to create characters and establish backstories and stuff. Someone did buy the monster book of monsters though, so we're good there.

However, standard character sheets and maybe a copier might be a good thing to look into..

Yeah, that's a good idea. Maybe if we get enough of these points next month, we can look into buying all those too.

When were you looking at doing this? I mean, I guess you have to find a DM first. I don't really have experience with that...

I have a bad habit of rambling so I don't think I'm a great fit for it. Have a friend you could rope in?

Unfortunately, I don't know if there's anyone with that kind of nerd cred... If Michael was here, I bet he would've done it...

[But that's way too much for Rich to ask for. And he wouldn't want to burden a friend he just made by making them be on this train.]
