[ here's the slightly less energetic voice of Peter Parker but at least he's not breathless. This time. ]

Uh. Hey. Um.. I just wanted to thank anyone that helped me out yesterday and uh you know, sorry you had to deal with that.

I'm uh.. better now? I guess you could say? Anyways if you need me I'll be around. Probably in the dressing car or one of the other places I like to hang out.

The... Kree?

[ He's not sure he's heard of them yet. ]

Where I'm from there's a race that kept tryin' to expand their empire. They're the Kree. Took on the Xandarian Empire for a while. Nearly wiped out some races. A lotta Ravagers are Kree defectors, former citizens interned for dissentin', former slaves like me.

[Now, some are assholes, sure, but the Ravagers are kind of a simple roving home for the lost and disenfranchised that have to start with nothing. The greatest tragedy of the loyalist portion of his crew dying.]

They've been forced into some treaties lately. Some of the old guard warriors ain't happy with it and sided with some uh... real special leaders, I'll call 'em that.

You don't have to talk about it, if you don't want to. That-I couldn't even imagine.

The honest truth is I don't even care about it that much no more so it don't bother me to mention how they are. What's done is done, but they lean towards propaganda. If one showed up they'd sell ya some story about how they was the bold and kind heroes.

[He holds what happened against his parents more than he does the Kree. They knew what the Kree were. That's the part he doesn't say.]

Well, if one does show up here, I'll be sure to punch 'em in the face or something and promise not to buy into the propaganda.

I'm part of the social justice movement back home-well, sorta. Spider-Man is.

[Go to space or back in history and Peter can find the good fortune of people that've not heard of a Spider-Man.]

I usually recommend not fightin' with 'em, they make a mess. Stronger than most Terrans but I reckon a well-trained one could take out a casual soldier. [This child was made of glass, what suddenly makes him think he could punch a Kree now? How big did this littl'un get?] But it's best to question 'em on all the stories they lay out.

Yup! It's what I go back in Queens-Or-uh what I go by as a super hero. See, 'cause back home there are a lot of people I gotta keep safe so I wear a mask when punching the bad guys.

...well, in all honesty, I rarely ever punch anyone it more like use their own momentum against them and web 'em up.

How did that happen? [Was his daddy a Spider-person and he didn't know? How the hell did this happen to this child.] Went from needin' inhalers to punchin' and spinnin' webs...

Oh! uh, it's a long story and involves a field trip to a science lab and a genetic mutation from a radioactive spider bite.

[ He rattles off quickly as though there's not much more to it than that. ]

Anyways, the Social Justice movement is based on the idea that everyone should be treated equally and have equal rights regardless of social class, race, gender, orientation-that sort of thing. It's also about stopping the spread of hate and speaking truth to power.

...Yeah, alright. I know a raccoon that talks from Terra. Some of your science gets real wild.

[Though it's kind of hard for a space pirate to grasp some of this. His crew was mostly men, but that's because the friend of a friend of a friends that signed up were male, not through a pointed effort. Most everybody else wanted to be a part of other crews, anyway. He did know quite a few of his boys were gay and never thought twice about it.]

[But the Kree?]

Yeah, Kree ain't gonna have nothin' like that. They're led by this big AI called the Supreme Intelligence and it's really worked out how to play people. Even best intentions.

Whoa! Really? That's so cool. ...also terrible because how many animal rights laws would that have violated? Yeesh.

Anyway-so you mean this super computer basically brain washes people? But if it's an AI then it's a computer which can be reprogramed or even shut down-I'm sure that someone's thought of that before but uh-what I really want to know is who built it?

Couldn't tell ya. It was there when I was a baby and I think a few generations before that, always growin'. The thing needs shut down but nobody I ever heard of got close to it.

[But on the matter of Rocket.]

It was pretty messed up of 'em and the raccoon's kinda a jackass. But one of them jackasses that ain't so bad to know. So long as you can put up with him gettin' a wild hair to get into trouble.

Is that a raccoon thing? Do they all steal shit and get real mean for no reason?

[ The universe is way more messed up than Peter realised. Then again, there were, apparently people like Thanos so maybe he'd always known it was that messed up-not always but since he'd been briefed on the spaceship. ]

Hm? Oh. Uh, yeah-yeah, actually that's uh-that's pretty common for a raccoon. They get into all sorts of things. Well-I've heard they do. I don't really see whole lot of them since I uh-I live in the city and you seen those more out in the country and rural areas.

One day Peter will figure out this is Thanos's daughter's almost father-in-law.
