Right. So we all know how yesterday was a thing that happened. Apologies to anyone who had to deal with teenage me, by the way.

Now, I can't speak for everyone, but I sure as heck think it'd help if we could all come together and organize something to help us get past it. I'm talking about a formal, adult event, where we can all get together and dress up as smart as the train will let us.

So I'm announcing an Adult Ballroom Social, set for 1900 hours on the 29th of this month.

I originally just had couples in mind - I know quite a few of us who are paired up - but I don't think we should be leaving anybody out. I'm thinking of setting up blind dates for anybody who wants a partner, and having drinks and snacks set out for anybody who doesn't feel like bringing one.

Anyone who wants to pitch in, or who has any tweaks or improvements they want to make, let me know.

Just a question, a little curiosity you could say—what in the worlds is an adult ballroom social, and when you say blind date, you're not meaning setting people up with blindfolds, are you?

( what he doesn't ask is why it's important to have an event where adults dress fancy as that sounds??? stuffy to him??? but sure, let him at least understand what it is in the first place!

Well, my first idea was to just throw a big ball, but I figured not everybody would want to dance. So it's just going to be a formal party that has a dance floor.

But a blind date is one where you don't know who you're being set up with.

Huh. I get it, but I also don't. Balls are a kind of dancing formal occasion? There are special floors for dancing? I mean, sure, when people perform on stage that's where they're at, or if it's some kind of ceremony...

( he clears his throat, since he's not on topic, he realises. )

Ooooh, I see. What's the point of it? Having someone to stand around with instead of talking with just anyone else there?

[Olivia isn't the sort to do balls, but... There's dancing involved. And that means music and that means she can't help but be curious.]

What k-kind of music were you thinking of having for it?

[Cassie chuckles.] That's how it is at a lot of dances I've been to. But...mostly it's just an excuse to be a couple in public.

I think we'd book the gym car for this. The one with the basketball hoop. Tends to be how most schools do things.

Ah, and can the non couples come along for the fun and the food, or should we slink off and properly leave the couples to live as they will?

It sounds like a fun idea! And as a single person, I'm very glad you're setting up the blind date thing. If you need help with that, or snacks, or maybe music, I'm up for it!

It's gonna take some work to set up a car to host something like this. I was thinking the gym car - the one with the balls, not the training one. Probably has the most floor space.

Getting some decorations, and a table to put libations on would be a big help.

Yeah. I'd like to stick with the supplies we have on the train if we can, but I can also push it back after the next stop if we'd like to get a few special extras.

The gym could be a good place. Maybe the music carriage too, if we move some of the stuff around. There's that space upstairs that'll be good for dancing, and it's already made to play music throughout the whole car.

Decorations might be a bit tough, but I'm sure we can figure something out.
