[Allen sounded rather awkward to say the least and he honestly felt it. He really had no idea what exactly was going on with him either. It was different but was it a good thing or bad.]

I need to talk to someone about something. It's not medical related, at least I really hope not. I just have something I need help with, that's all.

It kind of sounds like it, with the kind of tone Alice uses as she says it. But it's not even really her intention, this is just.. what she sounds like by default, she can't help it.. ]

I guess I can give that a "fair attempt." [ At best. Rating it any higher is impossible. ] It still doesn't help much though. Are you just going to be cryptic to everyone who replies? I don't think you'll find the right person to help you that way.

I know that, but it's just....really hard to explain. I hate it.

[He just wished things were easy that he could just explain himself.]

Acting differently how?

[ Look how patient she's being, despite that sort of thing not coming naturally to Alice in the slightest. But she likes Allen, so really, she's making an attempt here. ]

What specifically have you noticed that's different?

The word I might be looking for was anxious. I seem to be getting more anxious, which isn't like me at all. I usually feel guilty for the most part or if I feel anything I fake it till I make it, but can't really this time.

[Does that help?]

Hm. [ It's a thoughtful noise. Being anxious does not really seem like Allen, that much is true.. For all of the opinions Alice holds about the other, being some sort of anxious wreck sure isn't one of them. ]

And you've been thinking about it and can't figure out why you're feeling so anxious?

[ That'd explain the vagueness. ]

Pretty much. I figured I would try and figure it out just myself first. But I got nothing doing that.

[Which... shouldn't be all that surprising considering Allen really didn't know much about the way he was feeling. Nothing that has ever really happened before.]

Sometimes feelings can't be explained.

[ Which.. she knows isn't too helpful, but it's something Alice does believe in, considering her own problems with emotions getting out of hand withotu reason. ]

It could be not just one specific thing bothering you. Perhaps it has more to do with your general mood, or with nothing at all. Brains can behave in strange ways.

Brains are a complicated thing in general, huh?

[He could understand that at least, considering his brain itself is a confusing thing.]

I'm sure I'll be able to figure at least this out with help either way.

[ Tell her about it. The story of most of Alice's life has just been her giant struggle with her own brain and its terrible state.. ]

You seem optimistic. [ And since Alice realises that, coming from her, that could be taken as something negative, she quickly adds: ] It's a good thing. Don't misunderstand this, but I want you to be able to figure it out.

[ Yes, don't misunderstand it as her caring or anything! G-Geez, like she'd care! ]

[It was at least something he was going to acknowledge. It was something he usually tried to do as well.]

I mean once it's figured out I'll be able to do something about it, which is also a good thing. We all will probably have moments like this right? Where we don't get something, but we have to figure it out and learn.

Hmm.

[ She means to say 'yes', but that means being publically vulnerable in even the slightest way.

And there's no way Alice wants to do that, so all she gives him in return is a hum. ]

Perhaps you just need to think about something else for a while, and then the solution to the way you feel now might suddenly come to you later, after thinking about the other thing. Like why a raven is like a writing desk, for example.

That's an odd question to ask. They don't have anything in common.

[He's not a smart boy, or that good at riddles.]

[ She is slowly getting the impression that riddles aren't really Allen's strong suit.. But then again, his mind is off his own problem for a moment now, right? So mission accomplished. ]

I mean, I could think of a few things. A friend of mine asked me that when I was much younger, so I've had a long time to think about it.

So you have an answer for it? What is your answer then?

[Considering it took her a while, he is going to at least guess that the answer isn't just the pone answer, it all depends on the person.]

Well, outstanding bills are found on both of them.

[ Yes, she does manage to deliver that pun shamelessly.

Though her voice sounds fairly flat as she says it. ]

[It might take Allen a good moment or two to get the pun. Once he finally clocks on he chuckles slightly.]

I guess that is an answer.
