I don't think it's a real conductor either. But I'm thinking, like you said, it's something the train's got in its system - and they have void trains out being used for travelling, right?

So if the train isn't writing these info posts it gives us but it's something it already has, maybe it has something for what visiting the conductor means. Who gets called to a train conductor in the first place, you know?

Maybe it's got something to do with that train tethering. All I can think of.
