Into about--three! They're megalixirs! They'll make people feel good as new out on missions, magic and all! Light! [ And a smile springs on his face, even if he doesn't know she can hear him. ] I got a bunch of them! --Oh yeah, and Bryn! Yuna! I got stuff for you too! Come meet me in the luggage car!

[ She looks frustrated with her own inability to get this across for a moment – but then her face lights up. ]

Oh– no, I understand now how to explain it. Tidus, if I were to ask you to think of the ocean... whether or not you were conscious of it, the idea of "water" would also be at the forefront of your mind. The concept of "water" is integral to the concept of an "ocean" – you may be able to think of water without picturing the ocean, but you can't imagine the ocean without also picturing water.

So I suppose what I'm saying is... in this explanation, the dragon becomes, to the world, what water is to the ocean. The very nature of its existence becomes something that cannot be removed from how you imagine the world.

[ Odin's strengths are largely negated in a one-on-one, and even moreso in such a confined space. His strength and staying power have him in good stead, so he simply moves to block Tidus's strike with his shield, the entire piece flaring with flickering light. Natural resistances negate some of the delay buster, but his retaliating flurry of sweeping, spinning blows with the great double-bladed sword are a mite slower to begin, and deprived of their usual fluidity.

When the combo is finished, whether it struck or not, he straightens, and half of the room is filled with vertical bolts of electricity.

(Light winces, but the lights don't go out, or anything, so... it's probably fine?) ]

[ It's not the temporary stun Tidus was looking for, but slowing the motions and the diversion of answering his attack gives him room to kick back and display better the effects of his haste, the fluid athleticism in his own movements as he backflips with his one free hand to catch and bounce him back onto his feet, his sword held to stop it scraping against the ground.

But distance doesn't mean anything with the aerial electricity now permanently part of the field(?). He scoffs, even if inwardly he's realising that shit, he hasn't derust his reflect spell since he hopped on this train ride if those bolts do anything weird.

Nevertheless: ] Wanna see me dance? Fine! I know my way 'round lightning!

[ But he flicks the wrist of his armed hand, the burst of lights coming, and then--he's back in, swifter than before, followed by a light of blue tracing off his brotherhood that swings twice at one of its legs, another if the swing of that double-sided weapon isn't coming for him, or otherwise, he's jumping out. The sound of crackling somewhere behind him, but he doesn't dare look with the bigger threat ahead of him.

He wants to see how well he can damage this thing like this, or find a way to weaken the armour.

Or maybe, he should think of giving himself more protection first. ]

Well– no, but you see– the thing is– [ She continues in that vein for a moment before trailing off and looking kind of confused herself. It's kind of transparent in that moment that she doesn't really know what she's talking about either.

And then, with a cheery: ] Anyway! [ she just continues as if she had, in fact, successfully explained herself. ]

It's very rare for a dragon that old and powerful to die, but when they do... well, they often would rather their power and influence not vanish from the world with them.

[He mutters something like 'this damn train hates me' but it's very likely he's gonna try something like that next chance he gets anyway. It would certainly be useful and he doesn't like relying on someone else for handouts.]

Yeah, you start with three basic and then who knows how it calculates them after that. I haven't been doing so bad though. [Could be better but at least he's gotten enough to keep purchasing useful things.] You know the spider does clothes, right? [He makes a gesture to his suit.] About as good as I got back home. She's pretty good at style. Can't say I'm not a fan of this. [He grins, he's quite pleased with this style in fact.]

Yeah, I've got something too- but I don't wear it if I'm training.

[ And today is a training day despite the platform stop, so boring purple shirt and half-leg trousers it is. But with that said, he does ask with some amusement: ]

What about the clothes the train offers though? You tried that yet?

So then, pacts- [ because wait wasn't he asking about them- ] Does that have something to do with that?

Yes! A Pact is the way a dragon will pass that power onto someone – though it's not just power they pass on. You assume the mantle of their responsibilities and their influence and everything else that was theirs – in all ways but the physical, you more or less become them yourself.

It goes two ways, of course. It's not so much that they simply hand this power out to anyone worthy... but they give it to people who share their goals and their ideals. I suppose you could think of it as ensuring they leave behind no unfinished business?

[ Which was Very Much the case for Bryn. ]

[ See, now this is much simpler! Tidus can actually follow this! ]

So you've got a big job waiting for you back home! [ That's what he's hearing. ] What's a dragon want you to go and do?

[ He's pretty interested. Dragons sure love to either work with people or murder them. ]

Hmmm.

[ Now that's an odd response. As is the up and down look she's giving Tidus – her expression is suddenly a little serious and she has a look as if she's sizing him up somehow. ]

Well... if I tell you, will you promise to keep it a secret? It's not as though I expect you to run and tell everyone you speak to, but with things like they are right now, it might upset some of the other passengers to hear me speak of it so casually.

[ Wow, it took her this long to check him out?!

No, actually, he's not sure what the look is for, curious--even more so with what follows it, a bit of a blank look on his face. ]

Uh... sure. What is it?

[ His brain wants to make guesses, but what should he even guess...? ]

[Reno didn't bother to change out of his suit even if he did spend half a moment training. But then again, Reno was used to getting dirty on the job and that meant his suit often did, too.]

[ Tidus stares at Bryn. It's a stare that speaks what he doesn't, what his lips don't even mouth. It's an expression that speaks for his very soul when she reveals her mission, the brief look of astonishment giving away to a look that can only be described as:

They're not bad! A friend was sharing her load after giving it a go, got other people trying it. I just haven't had the time to try it myself yet.

Yeah, I hear it can be a real pain. [He let out a short chuckle.] But it can be amusing at least.

First things first: gotta rep to maintain, yada yada yada. Useful first stuff, then the fun stuff. [This may come as a surprise to anyone hearing him say this. That's because it's totally not like him at all.]

[ Has Tidus ever expressed how much he likes her arms around him? Because he's got to say, he's enjoying this fairly well--how can one guy get so lucky? ]

I dunno, [ he starts cheekily. ] This is pretty nice.

[ Especially when he tips his head to meet hers rested on his shoulder. ]

( oh the ways he motivates her to get out of her shell more. with his encouragement, she began to rub her face against his arm, before placing kisses on it.

I'm glad you like it. You're the only person I've done this with and it's still so new to me. So don't hesitate to ask for more.

[ He wasn't expecting those little kisses, and after the surprise of them, his cheeks pinch with warmth, a goofy excited commotion bubbling in his stomach.

And even though it means losing her head against his arm, Tidus slowly takes it away, wraps it around her shoulders and brings her to rest in the crook of his side, her face now closer to his than a bed of hair.

His hand finding hers, weaving fingers as one. ]

You too, [ he says with a laugh in his voice. ] Whatever you want or I want--we'll tell each other, let the other know. We'll talk to each other about everything.

[ And because he can't help it, can't wait--he plants a small kiss on her cheek, under her eye, a quick little thing. ]

( she's more than happy to intertwine fingers with him, following his affections with ease. the blanket is on her lap now, keeping her warm and filling her mind with memories of besaid. the warm beach, the bright sun, and the wonderful food. if only they could actually be there, enjoying it together. )

Sounds like a plan, a really great plan. I can't promise that I'll share this blanket though-

You see – the man I have to find is the man who killed Teacher. I still don't know why he did it... I simply returned one day and our home was in flames and Teacher was there among the ruins. He... was very badly injured.
