Backdated Fiddlesticks 1- Late/ Video

[Prompto's image appears on the network with a worried expression on his face. He's already in his pjs (tank top and chocobo yellow pj bottoms) and he's pretty sure Iggy's already in bed but.. there's a very big and important 'something' missing from his room.]

Hey uh.. sorry for bugging everyone but uh..

[He glances back at his room uncertain.]

Has anyone seen Gladio? Buddy? If you're around will you just.. I don't know, shout 'Marco' or something for me? If you need alone time or whatever, that's cool. I won't come bother you but.. just..

[What if Gladio really was needing some alone time and he was being stupid about this? He didn't want to be harassing the poor guy.]

[Noct looks absolutely distraught.]

We were supposed to have breakfast together and he didn't show. I'm really worried. He would never cancel plans without talking to me...

Breakfast? I thought I saw him earlier.

[Was he wrong? There were some other really large people on board. Had he just thought he'd seen the man?]

Hey are you in your room? You can come over. I haven't seen Aaron either and I know um.. Yugi I think is somewhere else.

[He's alone. Hence the fretting!]

Please come over.

[Ignis was sleeping pretty well when he heard Prompto's voice. Blearily he opened his eyes and blinked twice at hearing something about if anyone had seen Gladio. Hurriedly he put on his spectacles and got out of bed as carefully as he could without waking Tony.]

What do you mean Gladio is missing?

[The advisor could feel his heart sinking. No, he couldn't have gone back home, they were all there, the whole family was together. So he spoke softly.]

Prompto, I will come to your room and we will look for him together.

[Noct nods, already moving to stand up.]

I'm on my way.

Check your friend's room- the list of names on the door. Is it in gold?

[When Noct opens the door, he'll find Prompto in the hallway, looking over at Gladio's room.]

It's gold. What does that mean? Is there a new gold team?

Iggy! I thought you were sleeping.

[He frowned looking a little guilty for waking him.]

I don't know. He's not here and he usually stops by at least to say good night even if he's going to go stay with Noct. And Aaron's gone too!

[He nodded at Iggy saying he was coming over.]

Thanks Iggy.

[He dashes off for a moment and looks at the name on the door before coming back.]

What does that mean? Is there a gold team now?

[Well, now that someone's raised the possibility, it's really only a matter or time.]

Two of my cousins' names appeared like that when they disappeared. Their mother, their brother, I couldn't contact them- and then, when the train next stopped, they appeared on the platform and walked away.

Your friend is likely in a similar position.

[Noct shook his head.]

I have no idea.

[He wraps his arms around himself.]

I don't like this.

What?! T- that can't be..

[Gladio was gone?]

B- but.. without even a good-bye or anything?

[His eyes started to sting.]

That can't be true!

Ignis dashed as quick as he could to Prompto's room. However, he also found the king in the hallway with his arms wrapped around himself. How did Gladio manage to leave these two alone? What was he supposed to do? Well at least the three were here and these two had each other. Maybe he'd have to camp out with one or both for awhile, but the Shield had better return.

The advisor didn't even want to think about this being a permanent thing. After all, he himself had disappeared and came back. And the luggage room was going to be inspected daily.

Nodding to the king and the blonde, Ignis cocked his head to the side. "How long has Gladio been missing?"

And perhaps it is not; I said likely, not certain. But you should know what might occur, so that you can prepare yourself if it comes.

[A sigh and a shake of his head.]

The departing do not give farewells, young one. Do not blame them for it; it is not by their own will that they leave.

[As soon as he spots Noct, he practically flings himself at the other boy. Wrapping his arms tightly around Noct. He should be strong for Noct, but instead.. he was just trying not to cry.

It didn't work.]

Me neither! Why would he do this? I thought we couldn't leave!

[He looks up when Iggy approached. Tears were starting down his cheeks.]

Iggy! W- what's going on? Where is everyone?

[What if Yugi and the girl.. uh.. what was her name again?.. what is she was gone too!]

I don't want a room by myself!

[Noct looks at Prompto, shaking his head.]

They aren't important! We're talking about Gladio, here!

[He looks at Ignis, biting his lip.]

Last I saw him was last night...

[He listens and wipes his eyes with his sleeve. Sniffle.]

So they don't.. it just suddenly happens? We don't have any control over it?

[This place was the worst ever!]

Who would do that to people?

The advisor shook his head, and those tears were bothering him but he didn't show it. "We're still here Prompto." He went to say something when that look of Noct's hit him. But again he had to be the calm one because these two were just devastated.

Was this how Madoka and Tony had been when he'd disappeared? No, he couldn't think about that because he had to focus on his boys right now. And at hearing the king's recount Ignis sighed. "Alright, we can start searching the train top to bottom. We can all go together or split up which would of course save time. When people go missing, they go for varying lengths. And they always end up in the luggage compartment when they come back."

The strategist wasn't going to think worse case scenario right now.

[Prompto winced, but knew Noct was right. One problem at a time.]

I thought I saw him earlier today but I don't know. I might be wrong. He didn't show up for Noct's breakfast and he'd never miss something like that!

[He wiped his eyes with his sleeve.]

W- what do you mean 'when people go missing'?

[Noct looked pointedly at Ignis. He didn't like that line about going missing.]

So he might actually be missing? And why the luggage... This doesn't make sense, Specs!

[A slight laugh escapes him at that, though he has the grace to look a bit embarrassed afterward.]

If anyone here knows the inner workings of the train, alas, they have never let me in on the secret.

[The laugh produces a pitiful pout on his face, but it is more clear it wasn't meant as a mean one.

He flounders a moment or two, unsure what to say to this, but finally lands on something.]

I'm sorry about your cousins.

Food, Noctis and Prompto weren't things that Gladio would just dismiss and walk away from. And then a thought occurred. "What colour is his name on the network?" And just as he's about to look at that, he got questions.

If this didn't remind him of Galdin Quay..

But Ignis remained resolute as he looked at Prompto. "People go missing from time to time. And when they return they end up in the luggage department." Green eyes then met the king's blues. "I myself went missing after the last mission with no memory of what happened in between that time. I abandoned my team, and a boy Tony loves as a son died while he was on my team during that mission. He too..came back in the luggage department."

[Prompto stared at Iggy for a few moments.]

That's what happened to you?

[He hadn't really understood it. Things had been crazy and he'd though.. he wasn't sure what he'd thought. He'd been so focused on Gladio after he got hurt.]

Uh.. it's gold. I came out to look when Noct was coming over. Is there a gold team?

[There was no gold team. He got it now. Ignis was saying that Gladio has gone missing.]

Do they always come back?

Ignis slowly nodded to Prompto. It was odd the other hadn't noticed his absence, but then again he didn't consider himself important enough. So there was no offense taken. And with the blonde's question there was a slow shake of the head with his voice heavy with having to deliver this kind of news.

"No, there's no gold team."

He looked at Noct and wanted to reassure the king with everything in him. But the advisor could never lie to the king, not him. So his voice got softer, just as it had in Galdin Quay about Insomnia's fall.

"Not always I'm afraid. But we won't have a final answer until the next platform."
