[Video] 21st Egret; On Running for Council
[Nita looks a little less off-guard by her nomination now; in fact she is calm and composed, and following Seto Kaiba's lead she is not wearing her uniform and has something nice on. Not too fancy, not too run-down.]
Good afternoon, everyone. This is Nita Callahan.
I've been nominated for the train council, and I figured it's only fair to tell you all something about me, as well.
I suppose what comes first is that I'm a wizard, and for me [and Dairine, though she'll spare her sister the embarrassment of being brought up without her permission] that means I have experience working with all sorts of people - meaning all sorts of species, not just different humans - in resolving disputes and intervening in emergencies. We guard what grows and lives well in its own way, even if we don't necessarily understand it.
If elected - or even if I'm not - I don't expect to change how I see you. I still want to help find out why this train's gathered us without our permission, if we can find a way home on our own, and so forth. But I also understand that these missions are important, and I won't take them lightly, no matter what happens.
Thank you for your time. Nita, out.

Is it really important to find out why the train's taken us all instead of how and what that means? Is trying to find a way home a good use of your time when there are other things you could be doin to make life right now better for people?
Not trying to sound like an ass. I'm new and curious. Just wondering. If you got on the council, what're you gonna do for the people? How will the things you listened help us?
Also... you're a wizard?
Hopefully this tag makes sense...
The how, I know how to handle - working in tight quarters, negotiating who eats when so we don't crowd the tables, cleaning up after our own messes so they don't become someone else's grudge. We all help each other adjust to that as a matter of course.
Wizardry in the worlds I'm from isn't so much about casting spells and leaving a big impact as it is helping other people get their lives to work; I use the Speech, the language in which those worlds were built, to foster communication and help suss out what's breaking down, untwisting what's twisted, that sort of thing.
[So the topics really do run together.]
That means I can help on a diplomatic level, when people are at loggerheads - but that's the how. For the why, if we can get answers as to what this whole thing's for, and why we don't remember if we were even asked, then we could solve why the how is what it is.

Good answer.
[He leans forward and shuts off the feed, but not before giving a little wink. She'll have his vote.]

It's good to see Duo's feeling better, much as she doesn't know him that well yet.]

I don't think of myself as one for big speeches, but when you work with the Speech you still learn how to wield words.

Keeping this one short, if that's alright. ^^; Thank you for the tags!
It's fine, and you're welcome!
