Video: Requesting Nominees

Good afternoon, Voidtreckers. For those who don't know me, I'm Tony Stark and the moderator of the train council. We've decided that it's time for another election. Our numbers have grown exponentially here and there have been several changes in leadership do to people disappearing or leaving.

During this time, I'm asking for nominations for council members. We're still deciding whether the new council shall have nine or eleven members, so if I could get everyone to offer up to ten nominees it'd be most helpful. Also if you're nominated and you specific do not want to be on the council, please also let me know.

One last point, this isn't to be confused with team leaders. The council is the governing board of the train made up of voted in representatives regardless of team colors. The team leaders are who you go to if you have any problems and who is responsible for keeping everyone safe during missions.

Bucky, Loki's gone. And why aren't you voting for yourself?

And I agree, Ignis is better.

[Bucky chuckles as he shrugs.] I know, I put him down to annoy you, same reason I put that Iggy, [with a snort of laughter,] is better than you.

[The question about him, though, has him pause and side-eye Tony for a second.] First of all, nominating yourself for something is in bad taste, and who would actually vote for me, anyway?

Fine, I'll just write our names on here instead.

[He rolled his eyes.]

How about the other four people who have turned in nominees so far? Do you really not see how you'd be a leader, Sergeant James Buchanan Barne.

[He shakes his head a little.] First of all, I was drafted, and the second Steve showed up I let him step in front. Second, I'm literally a ticking time bomb. Not exactly the guy you want at the top of the food chain.

Also kudo's to Tony for putting this up. I was kinda wondering how this all worked. Er... everyone I want to nominate was already mentioned so. I'll just leave ya to it.

[That actually does give him pause -- either it's a good pep talk, or it's the fact that Tony's giving him a pep talk at all that's giving him pause.] I didn't say I was refusing the nomination, just pointing out why it's not a great idea, but... if people vote me in, I'll do the job. I owe everyone on this train a lot. [Things feel so safe here. Weirdly.]

Thank you. I'm glad you're on board with this. If we do go for an eleventh person, you'll be getting another vote in your name. However, you still want to vote for the people who have already been named. At the end I'm going to write up a list of nine or eleven with the people who have gotten nominated the most.

[He laughs and sets it down next to the others he's gathered.]

[A note appears, anonymously, under Tony’s door, written in beautiful (and painfully neat) script. It just says:

Joscelin Fitzthomas.

Golly gee whiz, who could this be from?]

[There's a smile.]

Well they are married, so asking one is like asking the other.

[He sits down on the opposite side with his own coffee.]

I have need of another team leader but I don't think Gladio will want it.

Okay, I'll give them both a half a vote then.

[Worked for him. Why not?]

I'm not sure everyone is understanding the nomination system, but it'll make more sense (I hope) in a few days when I post the real ballot. I've asked Dread to tally the votes with me.

[Tony recognized the handwriting even before seeing the name. He grins and writes the name down.

When he sees him later, he will mention he gets nine other people he can nominate too.]

[That change of subject gets a nice, big grin in reply.] I'd be honored. I'll even behave myself for the whole ceremony.

[Pardon the advisor while he quietly chuckles behind his coffee cup at the half vote. After taking a sip of coffee, he looks curiously at Tony.]


Is this only some sort of test run then?

Two questions, actually. But first I'll note that I accept my friend's nomination.

[ The use of the word is calculated, but it feels surprisingly natural when he says it. Huh. ]

You say that the council and team leaders are separate, but there's significant overlap at the moment. If I'm understanding correctly, the council is on-train government, and the team leaders are field captains? Do you anticipate the overlap causing any issues?

Second, will we have an opportunity to interview our nominees? As you're rightly pointed out before, what was once a tightly-knit community with entrenched social structure has expanded rapidly, and we don't all know each other's qualifications and perspectives.

No, it's to get a smaller list of candidates for people to select from the official ballot. We have about a hundred people here, so I'm hoping we can get a list of maybe twenty that people can then pick from.
