peak performance (video)

I'm aware that there's a loosely structured list of classes on-board the train already, but after the last disaster, I think we need to seriously expand the offerings.

Engineering skills are crucial. It's come to my attention that Team Orange is often tasked with that. I gathered some scraps from the mission planet---anything in good condition is donated to larger products, but I'm using the leftovers to build samples for teaching the basics. Ideally we'd focus on a range of possible technological eras, so any talented smiths would be of use.

I know combat classes and basic math and science classes are already underway, but it might be worth reminding everyone about them. An expansion of medical would be wise too.

Any thoughts? Anything you're willing to teach us that we could use?

I know survival first aid.

[The rough and ready kind that involves a lighter and a metal thing and searing wounds closed until Actual Help.]

You'd make a good Admin, by the way.

[Danny was not a fan of the school idea. The escape from high school was one of the few benefits of the train.

But... ]

I guess it could be useful to learn a little more about fixing mechanics stuff. Especially if there are going to be any more mission like the last one.

[As long as no one was making him learn math.

Also hello Kaiba. Here's a kid whose looking a lot more human than the last time you met.]

[And here is the smallest child on the train (even though he's actually seventeen).]

Mmm, the other classes have been interesting. [He was just happy that he had a chance to actually be learning advanced math at his level, instead of faking interest in memorizing the times tables.]

But I don't think it would do any harm to add some additional classes. What kinds of engineering were you thinking of?

Yeah, it's about time we made sure of that.

[She grins]. Oh, I don't know; Admin are pretty much vital to any team.

[Danny waves that off.]

Yeah, I do that. I figured it would be safer to go ghost while we were out fighting in case I needed to turn the ship intangible.

And that's a good point. I know my way around my parent's tech, but a lot of the stuff here doesn't look too much like it.

I know, and we've had four months to get it going, but...

[Shrug. Given the state of things, she's actually not surprised it's taken this long to get it together.] Anyway, Admin doesn't just mean paperwork, unless it does in your world?
deductiongeek: (surprised)

[personal profile] deductiongeek 2020-03-30 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
That could be interesting to learn. [Conan's own knowledge of engineering had focused heavily on being able to quickly identify sabotage in different machines. His knowledge of electrical engineering was slightly better, in that he'd needed to learn most of the basics in order to be confident in his bomb disposal skills.

He'd never focused much on learning how to repair anything.]

Would it be okay for kids to learn too?

Well, if we'd been shot it wouldn't have hit you. [Danny grins.] Don't worry about it, going intangible is harmless to humans. Although my friends back home did say it can feel pretty weird.

Okay! [He smiles, only slightly manipulative out of habit. ]

Then count me in! I always like learning new skills.

[And it was a break from boredom. ]

You and me both... [There's a nervous laugh, but moving on!]

Yeah, I don't either and I think we're going to be calling a team meeting after the new arrivals.

[For more reasons than what Kaiba's stated, though.]

Ah yes! If you're in need of an extra teacher, I'm available. I can teach any subject except anything to do with combat-not really my style.

Yes, but it might do to split up some of the class-that way the main teacher's not pushing themself too thin, yes? After all there are quite a few children onboard.

I don't have anything that one would consider useful outside on missions, unfortunately.

But I wonder if we could do lessons that are just to learn new skills for fun too.
