She's... right. But also working in extremes. It's so hard for Esteban to figure out how he can explain this properly, how he can tell her what he believes in. Speaking the same words but of completely different languages. And yet he can't not try. He can't ever not try.

"Najaran? Did you know that I'm very selfish?" He's being selfish right now, trying to change her views, trying to make her understand what he speaks of. It would be easier for her to leave the domain of selflessness and selfishness alone, to never question them as good or bad and morally grey. But he can't do that. To leave her with the simplistic view of the world is to risk that she might come to harm again-- and he can't let it happen without at least trying, trying to show her what he means.

"I want my friends safe, even if that means people I don't know will die." It's a terrible thing. It's a horrible thing. But Esteban still stands by it, because that is his selfishness, his greed. There's no other creature in his world more selfish than dragons, and Esteban believes it.

He believes it.

"I want them safe, even if others get hurt for my actions. Keeping the people I love safe is my selfishness." Esteban can't save everyone. He can't save anyone. So he will strive for the ones he loves, even if an innocent pays the price. Even if it is cruel and selfish of him.

"Does that make me a bad person?" He's... not sure if he wants to hear her answer, to be honest. Maybe he is a horrible person deep down. But he would accept that judgement, because it is the truth.
