It would be easier for her to leave the domain of selflessness and selfishness alone, to never question them as good or bad and morally grey. But he can't do that. To leave her with the simplistic view of the world is to risk that she might come to harm again-- and he can't let it happen without at least trying, trying to show her what he means.
