[Mid-afternoon on day 2 of Orchestra, Lea appears on the ICPs with a little announcement.]

Hey everyone. Just letting you all know about a new addition to the Standard Car. I know some people on the train have smart-phones or digital cameras, but since the ICPs don't really have a feature where you can upload and share photos, I figured a photo printer might come in handy. I set it up next to the 3-D Printer, and it should be good to go.

It came with some photo paper sheets to get us started, and they should be in the little bin right next to it. [AKA, a rectangular plastic container pilfered from the kitchens.] If there's none in there, that means it probably needs restocked; I'll try and make sure there's usually some there, but if there's any shutterbugs on the train with some extra points burning a hole in their pocket, I'm sure everyone would appreciate help with keeping the supply up.

Anyway, that's it. Anyone prints out any really cool or funny pictures, be sure to show them off. Til we get a Kingdom-gram feature to the ICPs, that can be the next best thing.

What are photos?

They're pictures created with light by using a device called a camera. Older ones had the picture projected onto a physical material called film and developed later, but newer ones use computers to record the picture directly into the device's memory.

Huh, but to use it, you need something that takes the photos first, which you'd have had to order or maybe came with you from those worlds with those kinds of devices?

That’s very nice of you. I think a photo printer will make a good addition to the train. I’m sure there are some people who have good pictures that they would like to save. Also, maybe more people can get camera or other devices that would let them take pictures now that there is a way to share them.

Ah...interesting. And so the printer is for transferring the pictures to paper?

Yep. There's really no way of people showing off their digital pictures here, so I figured this would be a way to do that.

Yeah you do. I know some people on board already have them, but if not, they don't take too many points to get. And if someone is from a world without them and really wants one, I'm sure they can work out some kind of trade or something. I know I'd be willing to lend a hand if I had the points to spare.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. And if anyone can't get one for whatever reason, then it shouldn't be too hard to work out a trade or something with someone who can. They're nothing that costs a whole ton of points after all.

Very true. There are a lot of people who have been here for a while and from what I have seen, some of them don’t seem to order much. If someone really wanted one, I’m sure one of them would be willing to assist. Might also be a good chance to teach others about the technology of a camera.

Yep. Even if they don't decide to print them out, taking pictures can be pretty fun in itself. Especially if you get a bit creative with it.

It does sound like it would be a wonderful idea. I’m looking forward to it and I'm sure others will be as well. I’ll have to request a camera to see if I can get some real pictures.

Cool. It'll be nice to have some memories from the different worlds we visit and from our life here on the train that we can all share.
