A robot is a machine that can do certain functions and usually are made to look human like. Not always the case however.

Cupid is just an asshole who likes to shoot people and make them fall in love with someone against their will.

Pirates are people who like treasure and usually commit some kind of crime or another. They also enjoy sailing on the open seas.
