[There's a blue lady on the comm's screen, not looking like she completely trusts it -- or that she quite likes being so visible. She has something to ask, though (as much as it feels like an exploitable vulnerability to ask) so she stays. And it's fair that others should see who's talking.]

Hello.

[. . . Knowing how to start is harder than anticipated, and considering the last time she was on the comm was to apologize, it feels even more awkward. She swears she can feel eyes looking at her. Unconsciously, her arms tuck into a cross.]

I heard there are "missions" every month. Where we're supposed to infiltrate, or something attacks.

. . . This time there was water in the city. In the pipes. And the sewers. But people say it's not always a city. Locations are different every time.

I need to be able to access some when it isn't there naturally.

I need . . . help.

[Silence for a moment. That was extremely uncomfortable to say, and the next question isn't much better for her.]

Also . . . I'd like to know what people do to find their own space. Where they can sometimes be alone. When . . . they need to.

They're things that have more space inside than they look on the outside. So, an 'Arms Band' looks like a bracelet, but you can store a lot of larger things inside. My ghost pouch is the same- since it's an item I found in a ghost room, space works different for it, so I can put more in it than it would have normally held.

[ahem]

Basically, we could probably put a lot of containers of water in one of those!

Partially. My skin is, and my bones are more dense than usual. I'm a chimera; part rock golem.

[As if that explained things. Well, to Zel it did. He was a bit surprised that Lapis had been both blunt and very calm about it. Granted, this train had a number of people whose species Zelgadis just didn't recognize; and he didn't know what Lapis was beyond 'probably water-related'.]

Hmm...well, sometimes water bottles are included in the supplies we get for missions. Maybe we could get one for you, one that's a bit sturdier for you to keep and use on missions?

And getting a bit of privacy on the train is...hard. I usually just use the Quiet Car or the Library.

[ Aziraphale remembers her, of course. Hard not to - and not just because of her blue tint. ]

Suppose we all find our spaces.

[ He addresses her entirely naturally, no mention of the first time they met. ]

There are private cars for free use. They can be locked.

And there are spaces that, while accessible by everyone, tend to stay somewhat quiet at certain times of day.

[It's genuinely hard to imagine finding someone like that -- someone she feels comfortable enough to be in that close of physical proximity, let alone ask the question of in the first place.]

[Though . . . it happened before, hadn't it?]

[. . . She just wishes she could remember how it worked.]

You're lucky.

[More "ghost" things. Does that mean that the room had a memory of a pouch, too? Was there a limit to this? Could the pouch then have the memory of whatever it used to hold?]

[. . .]

[. . . This is confusing. And weird. Probably better just to deal with it on its face. Something that she could store a lot of water in that couldn't be seen sounds very helpful, regardless of the principles behind it.]

. . . Would it be the same weight, putting a lot in it? And how much could it carry?

[Her eyebrows furrow just a little.] Could I just put water in it rather than containers?

[Quiet at that first part. Then, softly,] Yes. And . . . it is.

[A place that keeps you against your will in a small, confined space . . . what is, that, really, but a prison? An elaborate one, maybe. But still a prison.]

Thank you . . . [Said with a flicker of surprise that she would offer.] But . . . even if it were to offer such a thing, it feels . . . [She gropes for the right word.] Like a bribe.

[Which is still not to say that she doesn't want it. It's irritating how much she wants it -- knowing it's within the train's ability and dangled just out of reach.]

[A nod, but as he noted, there seems to be no judgment in it. She merely looks curious, exploring a new concept.] So you are still organic mostly?

["Chimera" is an interesting word, though. She doesn't know much about the concept, but at its basic level, she thinks she remembers it being several things merged together. Does that mean that he is several things merged together?]

Is that common for your people to be organic and inorganic?

[. . . It was that flying boy who tried to fight her. Hopefully he saw the apology on the network; she can't remember him answering.]

[He doesn't seem to be holding a grudge now, though, if he's replying without even mentioning it?]

[She decides not to mention it for now. No need to reopen anything. Just in case.]

It's . . . easier if it's liquid. Ice takes time to melt.

[And while she can melt it more quickly than it normally might, a large block is still a large block, insulating itself on the inside and making itself more resilent. There's a reason enormous snow piles take forever to melt.]

I'd also still need a way to carry it.

[Guilt pricks through Lapis' insides. This girl tries so often to help . . . which means that Lapis has so often seemed as though she needs it.]

[That's not a pleasant thought. And she's not sure what to do with it.]

It . . . would be good if that's the only option. But it isn't a lot of water.

[She's been in that situation before -- where there isn't enough water to destroy what she needs to destroy, not enough water to save--]

[She shakes the thought away.]

And . . . it would be nice if I could make a place that's just my own.

[Where she doesn't have to worry about being seen. But that's not something she says aloud.]

[Someone else who she really hopes saw her network apology. Her eyes betray a flicker of worry, darting over his face, searching--]

[He doesn't seem to be angry, though? At least not that he's showing.]

[She tries to answer as he does, not bringing it up in turn.]

Private cars . . . ?

Don't say that as I did not put any effort into it at all.

[ Not that Lapis isn't right. Alice has been lucky. This sort of thing is a lot about being lucky.

But she's not entirely lying either - if she hadn't bothered to try and open up to other people, she wouldn't have ended up here in the first place. ]

A lot of people here are oddly nice. It's not that difficult.

[Just smile and nod Lapis. Or maybe just nod. Or-]

Nope- it only weighs as much as the bag. And...I've never really pushed the limits too far? It gets hard to find what I need to pull out if I put too much in there.

[He frowns, thinking about the water.] ...May...be..?

[Danny makes a face.]

Probably not an option, then. I've got an ice core, not a water core. I can shape it, but I can't melt it.

[She nodded slightly. At least another could see it in that way. Sure, she loved what the train has done for her, but at the same time she wants to explore the worlds more if possible. Not be on a train more.]

A bribe? [She asked curiously for the most part. She didn't know much of what that word meant, but she knew it was at least not a good thing.]

Thats a bad thing right? It sounds it after all.

Yes, I'm still mostly organic, no it's not common.

[Sorry, Lapis, Zelgadis is getting a bit short about the thing. While the fact that no one finds him odd relative to everything else on the train is a novelty, it doesn't help that he's getting the same questions.].

Yeah, bottles don't really hold a lot of water. [ And carrying multiple bottles is just a hassle. ] I don't really know what would be good for holding a lot of water, though.

And I'm not sure if there's much space to set up for individual people, as much as it would be nice. [ It's tough to find place on the train that could be completely cleared out. ] Are there any places on the train you're most comfortable with?

[ He's not angry. Whether that's on his angelic nature, naivity, or simple empathy is up for discussion.]

Yes. Or, well- car with the small sitting rooms. You can lock thee door, if you wish. It's one of the few ways you can make sure no one will bother you.

[Lapis does not frequently smile, so he might have to go with nodding.]

I could try.

It's your bag, though . . . wouldn't you want it?

[There's a small blink at that, because usually it's her that asks that type of question, not someone else.]

A bribe. Like . . . something offered to make you do what someone else wants when you don't want to do what they want.

Something that someone will either do or give to you to make you do something or give something up.

It's . . . underhanded. Dishonest.

No one does anything like this in your world?

What do you mean by "ice core?"

[Ah, she'd been hoping he'd meant something else -- something that somehow she'd failed to notice. These she's familiar with. She gives a small nod, eyes slipping sideways.]

For some times, those are all right. But. They start to feel like a cell.

Even knowing I can get out.

[He taps his chest.]

My kind of ghost is built around some kind of core. Mine's ice. It means I create ice energy. Like, all the time.

[And if he didn't use it up, it had a way of making its own way out. He'd had to leave behind a few spontaneous icebergs at a few of the planet stops. ]

Ah.

[ Well, this is a little awkward. He really can understand how bothersome the lack of true privacy and the limited choices to find it can get to you after a while. And it's not that every space is exactly particularly comfortable (at least, to his standards). ]

I do suppose our choices are...rather limited.

But there are certain places, at certain hours, that do tend to be emptier. It's temporary, but perhaps you can find your spot then.

Well...yeah, but I can find another one probably. Ghost objects are formed from anything inanimate that was in the room at the time, so it can't be too hard to find more!
